As a former teacher, Governor Culver knows that Iowa students are among the best in the country, and since taking office, both Governor Culver and Lt. Governor Judge have worked to give our students every opportunity for success.  From preschool to graduate school, the Culver/Judge Administration has worked hard on behalf of Iowa’s students, and will not rest until each and every child has the tools and resources they need for a bright future.image

  • Governor Culver and Lt. Governor Judge created the state’s first voluntary preschool program, which to date has helped more than 12,000 students in 175 districts receive a quality preschool education.
  • The Culver/Judge Administration implemented a new teacher quality initiative, which has helped increase teacher salaries statewide.
  • Thanks to the All Iowa Opportunity Scholarship, the Culver/Judge Administration has given out more than 1,300 awards to Iowa’s students, helping them achieve their dream of a college education.
  • With our economy demanding more high-tech and scientific professionals, Governor Culver invested new funds in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education, which will train more math and science teachers for our high schools and create new opportunities for students to get involved in the sciences.
  • Governor Culver changed the way we teach our students by implementing a new Core Curriculum that helps give students the skills they need to succeed in the future.
