Governor Culver and Lt. Governor Judge believe that health care is not a privilege, but a right, and they have worked hard to help improve the health of Iowans. Not only have they helped expand access to quality, affordable health care, but they have also taken steps to prevent medical emergencies in the first place with a focus on wellness. Governor Culver and Lt. Governor Judge know that we can solve our health care challenges, and with the help of Iowans will build a brighter, healthier future for our state.

• Under the Culver/Judge Administration, an additional 32,000 children have received health insurance through Medicaid and HAWK-I.
• Governor Culver signed legislation that will help ensure that every Iowa child has quality, affordable health insurance.
• As a former nurse, Lt. Governor Judge has worked to promote wellness statewide by creating a commission dedicated to improving Iowa’s health and encouraging thousands of Iowans to join in her heart health challenge.
• The Governor signed the Healthy Kids Act, which will remove junk food from our schools and make Iowa’s children more physically active.
• Thanks to the Governor’s and Lt. Governor’s efforts, cigarette use has dropped 32% and almost all Iowans now work in an environment free of second-hand smoke.
