Gov. Branstad names Lt. Gov. Reynolds to oversee transitional process of the Rebuild Iowa Office
Reynolds will oversee the transition of flood relieve efforts as office completes its scheduled June 30 close
(DES MOINES) – Gov. Terry E. Branstad today named Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds to oversee the Rebuild Iowa Office (RIO) as it completes its scheduled June 30 close.
Branstad says this is an important opportunity for the lieutenant governor to review all of our options and tasks associated with the RIO office, and will take her recommendations on how to best serve the health and safety of Iowans during future natural disasters.
“Lieutenant Governor Reynolds will review the status and progress of the projects associated with the Rebuild Iowa Office, and ultimately will ensure a smooth transition as this office closes,” said Branstad. “I will count on her to provide me with recommendations as we move forward.”
Lt. Gov. Reynolds says she believes this is an opportunity to streamline current and future flood recovery efforts.
“Our administration will look for efficiencies and opportunities to best serve Iowans, especially during times when they need it most,” said Reynolds. “We will study the efforts RIO undertook to understand what worked, what didn’t and how we can ensure rapid, effective responses to natural disasters in the future.”
