Apple's Waukee data center deal is a win-win for Iowa
The Register would have you believe that the state of Iowa and city of Waukee are giving Apple $213 million. Far from it! The state agreed to lower Apple’s projected $289 million property tax bill by $213 million over 20 years in exchange for Apple building a data center in Waukee. Apple will still be paying $76 million over that time. That is a discount and not a giveaway. The Apple deal does not cost the Iowa treasury anything.
