Gov. Kim Reynolds will sign a mental health bill, House File 2456, and a teen suicide prevention bill, Senate File 2113, on Thursday, March 29, 2018, in the Rotunda of the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines.

House File 2456 is an Act relating to behavior health, including provisions relating to involuntary commitments and hospitalizations, the disclosure of mental health information to law enforcement professionals and mental health and disability services.

Senate File 2113 is an Act requiring school employee training and protocols relating to suicide prevention and the identification of adverse childhood experiences and strategies to mitigate toxic stress response.

“I am grateful to the Iowa Legislature for sending these important bills to my desk,” Gov. Reynolds said. “They are a strong step to improving compassionate care for all Iowans.”

The bill signings are open to the public.
