How to request a proclamation
Governor Reynolds is pleased to issue official proclamations to raise awareness about issues, recognize industries, or celebrate milestones with statewide significance. Proclamations should be relevant to the state of Iowa and requested by Iowans or organizations in Iowa.
The following information will help you prepare your proclamation request:
- Please submit your request using the online proclamation request form. Requests cannot be accepted by email, mail, or phone.
- Requests should be submitted 4 to 8 weeks before the start of the month of the proclamation date.
- Include the proclamation language for 4 to 6 whereas clauses with your request.
- Recurring proclamations must be requested each year.
- Proclamations are not generally provided for anniversaries (individuals or businesses) or other personal milestones such as birthdays or retirements. You may request a greeting instead.
- The Office of the Governor reserves the right to edit or revise proclamation language without notice, and to decline a proclamation request for any reason.
- Proclamations do not represent an endorsement by the Governor.
The Governor holds a limited number of formal proclamation signings monthly at the Iowa State Capitol. Due to the high volume of requests, weβre unable to accommodate everyone. Please indicate whether you would like to be considered for a formal signing and a member of our staff will notify you regarding availability. Proclamation signings are generally held toward the end of the month prior to the proclamation date.
Proclamations are available for pick up at the Capitol or can be sent by mail depending on your preference.
If you have questions about requesting a proclamation, please call the Office of the Governor at 515-281-5211.
